The estate's history dates back to 1703. I took over the family estate in 2003. Since then, I have been
committed to continuing the work my father Michel has been doing for 20 years, focusing on
vineyard management that prioritizes balance.
On my 17-hectare estate located in Ecueil (Montagne de Reims), I practice unconventional, precise viticulture
that respects the vine's cycles. My studies in agricultural engineering and oenology
now allow me to better understand nature and its expression.
"My approach to the vine is very sensitive: no dogma, I observe and adapt my actions
according to the specific characteristics of each year."
3 terroirs, 3 identities
My vineyard is located on 3 terroirs:
● Ecueil, 1er Cru with clay-limestone and sandy soil
● Villers-Allerand, 1er Cru with clay-limestone soil and a chalk depth of 1.5 meters
● Bouzy, Grand Cru with clay-limestone soil and an outcropping chalk layer (0.5 meters)
whose hillsides are primarily south-facing.
These terroirs, mainly planted with Pinot Noir, represent a mosaic of terroirs, soils, and
expressions, allowing me to craft singular wines by faithfully
reflecting the identity of the soil.
The DNA of a terroir is also about preservation.
In 1973, my father, Michel, planted a plot of Pinot Noir by mass selection, without rootstock. Since then, these "Franc de pieds"
vines have developed their own root system.
Only in great vintages does a cuvée emerge from this plot.
These vines have allowed me to create, only in great vintages, the Cuvée des
Coupés, now considered my signature cuvée.
The vineyard is composed of 65% vines from mass selection, ensuring greater
aromatic complexity.
It is composed of: 65% Pinot Noir, 17% Chardonnay,
15% Meunier, and 3% Petit Meslier, an old Champagne grape variety.
The average age of the vines is about 35 years.

Label & Natural Wines

Some labels can help us identify a natural wine. The AB label, for example, certifies organic farming. The Demeter label, for its part, guarantees biodynamics. There is also the 'Vin Méthode Nature' label, as well as 'Nature et Progrès', 'Les Vins SAINS', and many others.

Some estates choose to adhere to a single label, or even not to be labeled at all, even though their cultivation and winemaking method would allow it. In other words, there is no strict rule. It all depends on the winemaker's vision, his desires, and his convictions.

For us, it is important to meet all the people we work with in order to understand their working method and select the products that match our ideology.

Natural wine

At Terra Vinea, we are deeply passionate about natural wine. We love the emotions it arouses, the surprises a bottle can give us, the memories wine gives us. We also find it important to consume a product grown and vinified with respect for the fauna and flora, preserving all the life around and in it. These convictions are part of us, and we are proud to represent these women and men who put their heart and soul into offering us these living wines.
